OZEV Electric Vehicle Home-charge Scheme

The Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles (OZEV) has announced a change in the targeting of the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS). As of April 2022, the government funding of the EVHS will be removed from private homeowners and made available for individuals living in rented and leasehold accommodation instead.

From the start of April 2022, the scheme will focus on individuals who own rented accommodation and leasehold properties, in particular flat and tenement buildings. When the scheme alters its focus, landlords who own flats and multiple occupancy properties will be able to apply for electric vehicle charging grants on behalf of the building and its occupants, who must own an electric vehicle (EV) in order to qualify.

At RSE, we have the in-house capability to deal with every type of EV charge point installation, whether it be domestic, commercial or industrial. In light of the recent news regarding the amended focus of the government funding, RSE can offer the installation of large charging points which have access to multiple charging outlets; to allow for combined usage between tenants.

RSE welcome the transition in the EVHS targeting, as this will remove the barriers for sustainably conscious consumers who are non-homeowners, with access to EV charging allowing sustainable motoring to be an option for this segment of the market. As the move towards EV vehicles gathers momentum, RSE are in a prime position to transform the domestic market and contribute towards a more sustainable future for all.
